CERAMICS AND FOLK ART

The need for beauty is inherent to people, and potters strove to decorate their products. They knew such items would sell better at fairs. Some potters wished to create objects that would awaken in others a sense of pleasure, admiration, excitement, and sometimes even fear. It is precisely in evoking these emotions that the artistic character of all creativity – including folk art – resides.
