CERAMICS, PLAY, AND SCIENCE

Ceramic toys were most often made in the shape of animals and people, but most commonly as small vessels, crafted by potters in the same way as kitchenware for food preparation. For play, children also used whistles, flutes, or moneyboxes, most often in the form of animals (deer, horse, pig, and various species of birds). Ceramic dolls depicting well-dressed children were likewise intended for play.

Ceramic materials are also connected with the development of electronics. The discovery and use of electricity enabled people to live more safely and comfortably. Numerous electronic components are made of ceramics and are built into various electrical devices of everyday life.
